SEGA Reveals Yakuza: Dead Souls
There’s no question left that this is the “zombie generation.” Evidence did not present itself so loudly the day SEGA announced Yakuza of the End, a zombie shooter based in the Yakuza universe. Apparently, the idea was so good that the game will come to the West under the new title: Yakuza: Dead Souls, SEGA announced earlier today.
The game is set in Yakuza’s usual playground, the red light district of Tokyo. Four characters, including a couple of the series’ heroes (or anti-heroes), face of against the oppressive zombie horde.
“We know how much people love Yakuza in the West and with Dead Souls being the latest and greatest in the franchise, it is only right we bring it to them closer to the Japanese release than ever,” said Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing at SEGA.
Translated to: Zombies = money.
Yakuza: Dead Souls is the first entry to include true gun-based combat. Pistols, machine guns, rocket launchers and a damn mini-gun coming out of someone’s arm can be used to stem the zombie forces.
