It’s Official: Star Wars: The Old Republic has a Launch Date
BioWare and LucasArts announced today that Star Wars: The Old Republic has been given the green light; the official launch date is set. The announcement gets even more exciting, so control those lightsabers. The game is scheduled to release this year. That’s right, Star Wars: The Old Republic will launch on Dec. 20, 2011 in North America and Dec. 22, 2011 in European Launch Territories.
BioWare Co-Founder Dr. Ray Muzyka thanked the fans for their patience:
“This is an incredible moment for everyone at BioWare and our partners at LucasArts who have dedicated their lives to build this extraordinary game. We appreciate the patience from the millions of fans who have been waiting for the game’s release.”
Not even EA head honcho Peter Moore could contain his enthusiasm over the release, saying he “Couldn’t be more excited!!” on his Facebook page. Hum. Actually, even with the extra “!” this is quite a lethargic announcement from a man who has a love of tattooing release dates onto himself.
The game will release with a 30-day trial for gamers to settle in. After that they are obligated to begin a monthly payment plan.
Confirmed monthly subscription fees:
Early Game Access is available to gamers who have pre-ordered their copy and have entered their pre-order code at StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com.
