New Resident Evil Revelations Trailer and Screens

Platform: Nintendo 3DS
Release Date: Early 2012

One of the key points that we saw in Resident Evil: The Mercenaries3D was the inclusion of the demo for Resident Evil Revelations. The recent titles dropping on all platforms are almost overwhelming. The lineup to some may look like nothing more than a necrophilic dream come true. Resident Evil 4 HD, Resident Evil: Code Veronica X remakes, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, and finally Revelations, will be making their way to a console nearest you.

The games storyline takes place in between the events of Resident Evil 4 and 5, but offers up some variations in gameplay and characters. Take fan favorite Jill Valentine and BSAA partner Parker Luciani on to this floating deathtrap in order to locate Chris Redfield based on his last known GPS position.

Unbeknownst to the duo on out in dark waters exploring the ‘Queen Zenobia’, Chris has taking on a trek to discover more about a mysterious group and the T-Abyss Virus. He and partner Jessica Sherwat are deep in the mountains looking to uncover more about the notorious terrorist group, the Veltro.

The game promises to bring players back to some of the roots of the series. Things like limited ammo, eerie corridors, and of course those sudden scares will bring back those fond memories of sleepless nights and turning on the night light just to catch a wink. The touch screen will also be utilized in the same way it was with RE: The Mercenaries, in that you will be able to select and reload weapons by tapping them on the screen. Players will also be able to take on the game in first and third person modes. Regardless of the viewpoint, it will be sure to have players thinking “I better turn the #*$@ around right about now!”

Something that we saw early on in the demo was the quality that we can expect from the game. A similar engine that was present in Resident Evil 5 has been adapted to fit the mobile version for the Nintendo 3DS (MT Framework Mobile). It was fulfilling enough to see the quality in production for RE:The Mercenaries, but this full-fledged survival horror title looks to provide the traditional stage for fans and live up to the expected quality that fans have been acquainted with for years.

(Here we see the same type of action buttons that were present in the demo)

It would have been nice for the game to take on some online multiplayer action, but at this point, it doesn’t seem like a possibility. The description of players simply outlines a single player game. Something that might be a great addition would be the inclusion of RE: The Mercenaries and the ability to play with those who already own the title. At this point, it is only wishful thinking.
