FortressCraft Makes Over a Million in Sales Revenue

Very few Xbox Live Indie Games ride the coat-tails of another game’s success the way FortressCraft has, yet there are undoubtedly many Xbox Indie titles that stem from previously released games and classics. Golden classics have immortalized and defined certain genres, such as the Super Mario Bros. franchise represents the 2D side-scrolling platformer genre and how Halo represents the FPS genre, and more pointedly, how Minecraft represents the voxel block-builder genre.

Now it seems that FortressCraft is one of, if not the best-known XBLIG title on the market today with it’s incredible record-breaking sales figures with over 400,000 copies sold for a total of over one million dollars in revenue.

No other Xbox Indie has generated so many sales, and the revenue is soaring…but is FC cashing in on crops that were sown by the mega-popular PC Indie Minecraft? When Minecraft makes it’s official appearance to consoles, will the Xbox Indie fan favorite be able to contend with it’s predecessor, or will it be forgotten like a passing fad?
