More Borderlands 2 Details Emerge
Recently, US gaming magazine Game Informer let drop a Borderlands 2 details-laden bombshell on the gaming public. So what, pray, is new for our upcoming return to Pandora?
First off, a new character and class has been announced. The gruff-looking gentleman adorning the picture above is Salvador, and his class is Gunzerker. Just a quick note, a class that combines both “guns” and “berserker” into one just sounds tasty. The “z” is also a noted benefit. The Gunzerker class will most likely be the tank character, replacing Brick from the original. The class has an ability that allows the player to dual wield any weapon in the game.
The storyline of the game is dynamic in that it will change and form to the player’s decisions. Missions can be failed just as easily as they can be completed, which will change the course players follow.
The original four characters of the first game will make an appearance but only as non-playable NPC characters. They will most likely exist as quest providers.
Remember the weapon manufacturers from the first game? Even if you don’t, if you played Borderlands enough you began to notice that each brand created weapons that looked and acted different from one another. However, each weapon looked similar enough that players would have to check out the item closely if they wanted to know its origin. In Borderlands 2, Gearbox wants to make each brand even more aesthetically unique in order for players to be able to know the manufacturer of a weapon at first glance.
The NPC characters will have the ability to move about towns, changing locations and interacting with objects around them.
The skill tree which utilizes a three branch system will make a return with more defined abilities.
Gearbox is providing new vehicles, some of which can support four players at once instead of just two.
A mysterious element called Eridium can be found within the game. The element can be combined with weapons and vehicles to improve the stats, or be used as a form of currency.
Borderlands 2 will be shown for the first time next week during Gamescom. Look here for more details following the event.
