Gears of War 3 Gets an Over $200 Bundle and Replica Retro Lancer

During the Pendulum Wars the Lancer, now dubbed the Retro Lancer, was the primary weapon of choice of COG soldiers. It was abandoned to a newer model after the rise of the Lambent Invasion, but luckily for gamers with way too much disposable income, the Retro Lancer can be yours to keep.

The Retro Lancer is now available to purchase exclusively from Gamestop along with any pre-order bundle including Gears of War 3 and Gears of War 3 Epic Edition.

Of course the Retro Lancer can be bought alone for a single, low, one time only fee of $99.99. The Retro Lancer will be available September 13, a week before Gears of War 3 launches.

Bundled with Gears of War 3 the pack will cost $139.98 and with Gears of War 3 Epic Edition the pack will cost an astounding, bank-busting $229.98. Yowza! Even Scrooge McDuck would raise an eyebrow or two at that price and he sits on a pile of freaking money.

For those who may doubt whether or not this Retro Lancer toy is everything it’s cracked up to be, take a look at a picture of this beast … holding one:

This thing is the real deal, folks. From Epic’s release, the gun was created from actual 3D data used by Epic Games for Gears of War 3, is over 3.5 feet long, the trigger activates a machine gun sound effect and is hand painted with weathered and battle-worn detail.

What more can be said?

The price is surprising, sure but you got to admit, this thing is insanely awesome in all ways that a practically useless gaming toy could be. Gamers under more financial strain need not sacrifice their first born to the angry, smiteful gaming gods in order to afford this thing just yet, GameStop has an online-only offer which allows you to save $20 off of the overall price. It doesn’t seem like much, but paying $20 less for the craziest pre-order gaming bundle in history maybe isn’t so bad.
