Nintendo: Wii 2 Playable at E3, Will be Released 2012, First Image

IGN is breaking the news that the recently rumored new console from Nintendo has now been confirmed.

“We will show a playable model of the new system and announce more specifications at the E3 Expo, which will be held June 7-9, 2011, in Los Angeles,” the company said in a brief statement.

Playable model at E3? Count me in.

Rumors have been swirling that the new console is dubbed “Project Cafe,” and multiple sources have claimed that the system will feature a six-inch touchscreen display on the controllers, and that it will be “significantly more powerful” than either the 360 or the PS3.

Nintendo E3 Announcement and Invite

Along with the invite came a picture which looks suspiciously like one that was leaked not long ago.
