Mass Effect Anime Announced
High-flying, spacebound adventure with interspecies romance? Sounds like Mass Effect. It also sounds a little bit like anime, too. Funny thing, that, because that’s what was just announced today.
Electronic Arts issued a press release, indicating that Bioware is teaming up with FUNimation to create a feature-length anime set in the Mass Effect universe.
Bioware’s Casey Hudson is acting as executive producer on the project, along with FUNimation president Gen Fukunaga and other respected anime luminaries.
Says Hudson, “Over the last few years, we have revealed different pieces of the Mass Effect world through different media. Extending the story through an anime medium is another amazing opportunity for us.”
The film is currently in production, and will be released digitally and on home video sometime in 2012. This gives us plenty of time to consider the disturbing ramifications of the Asari having tentacle hair.
