Rumor: Monster Hunter Series Coming to the 3DS
This rumor just won’t die, and gamers may soon be playing a Monster Hunter title that has them slaying Rathian and Rathalos in 3D.
Accoriding to GoNintendo , the people over at 8-4 podcast (Hosted by 1UP.com’s Mark MacDonald, John Ricciardi, and Hiroko Minamoto) caught wind of the rumor. Supposedly, a 3DS Monster Hunter game was to be confirmed at Monster Hunter Festa, but the event was canceled after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Capcom has since said an announcement related to the 3DS is to be made next month.
A few months ago Capcom CEO Haruhiro Tsujimoto said during an interview that,”3DS is releasing, too, so the time to switch to a new platform is coming,”when talking about the Monster Hunter series.
The monster hunting, trapping, carving and wear-what-you-kill series has already enjoyed handheld success on PSP-especialy in Japan-so a new release on the super popular 3DS seems like a no brainer. It would be kind of fitting since Capcom switched over the home console series from Sony to Nintendo with Monster Hunter Tri, so why not switch the series to Nintendo’s handheld?
If there is any truth to this I ask for only one thing: please give this handheld iteration online capabilities. Currently, only Monster Hunter Tri is playable online, with the PSP ones only able to do so with some shifty shenanigans and tech know how.
