PEGI to Ubisoft: “We Dare” is Naughty
I have a tendency to come up with some pretty nonsensical lead-ins for these news stories, but hear me out on this one: On the best podcast ever, You Look Nice Today, Merlin Mann called the “Mac Lover’s Cruise” the saddest key party ever. Well, I think Ubisoft has one-upped him with We Dare, and PEGI is looking to shut them down.
According to Gamasutra, the European ratings board has issued a warning to Ubisoft regarding the content of their online advertisement for the game.
The YouTube video demonstrates the adult-oriented party game being used to encourage partners to spank each other. Said PEGI, “the advertisement does not accurately reflect the nature and content of the product, and it misleads consumers as to its true nature.”
Common Sense issued a counter-statement, saying “I believe that the video is very up front. The game is creepy, and so is the video.
Regardless, Ubisoft has been given three days to respond to the complaint. The controversial game will no be released in the UK or US, which has effectively put an end to all swinging and spouse swapping in both countries, for good.
