PopCap Considers IPO
PopCap Games is hardly strapped for cash. Consider the millions of people that sit around organizing their jewels all day… and paying for the privilege to do so!
The company has been privately owned since its founding, but they may have decided that the grass is greener on the other side of the advancing line of zombies. That’s right, PopCap is considering an IPO, which means that each of us can own a small piece of that sweet, sweet pie.
PopCap president David Roberst, speaking to CNBC, said that though the company isn’t going to commit to an IPO right now, they’re getting their affairs in order. “I do think we’ll be ready internally… Whether the market is ready remains to be seen… It has go to be right for us.”
Those on the fence about investing in a game company would do well to remember that PopCap sold 10 million iPhone games in 2010, and is the third largest Facebook game developer.
