Bungie: MMO is “a Joke”
Bungie has admitted in today’s Bungie Weekly Update that that whole action MMO thing, the one that the internet pooped itself over, was actually just a joke by network engineer David Aldridge.
Aldridge was performing a presentation at GDC and thought it would be hilarious to end with this slide featuring the ambiguously written “massively good online games” and see what would happen.
The original slide was probably Sheen free.
The rumor of a Bungie MMO has been circulating the internet for about a month.
From the Bungie Weekly Update:
“Now, in rehearsal Aldridge was convinced that everybody got the joke. It was all in the delivery, he assured us, and he was certain it was clear that he was playfully riffing off of the recent rumors. Unfortunately, most people can’t figure David out – they can’t process him. And we don’t expect them to. You can’t process David Aldridge with a normal brain. You’d need tiger blood and Adonis DNA. “
Essentially all this means is that there is no MMO, Aldridge just wanted a few “lulz” at the expense of the gaming public.
To be honest, he got everyone pretty good. This just goes to show that when developers actually do respond to rumors or speculation, they’re probably full of crap. And tiger blood.
