Saints Row: The Third Announced, Skydiving Gun Fights Ensue
THQ and Volition Inc. “shocked” gamers today with the announcement that Saints Row: The Third–the third game in the series if you’re having trouble keeping up–is coming soon. Details of the game will be featured in a 10 page article in the April issue of Game Informer, scheduled to hit shelves early March 2011.
“Saints Row: The Third puts you on top of the world, right at the beginning of the game, with all the perks that go along with being the head of an elite criminal organization,” said Danny Bilson, THQ Executive Vice President, Core Games. “There’s no delivering pizza, no shuttling family members about in a long series of taxi missions. Instead, you take all the power of the Third Street Saints and you take the world by storm.”
The THQ press release has revealed that the Saints have been sitting pretty for some time thanks to their city-wide takeover from the previous title. And what better way for a street gang to celebrate their power? Merchandise! Yes, the Saints have sold out. Sneakers, energy drinks and even bobble heads featuring your favorite killing machines are available at competitive prices.
Of course this much merch can only mean that the Saints are sitting on a big heap of cash. Money that the world famous criminal fraternity, The Syndicate, want a piece of in tribute. The Saints disagreed, sparking a new battle in a new city. THQ promises that the game will feature some incredible new gameplay elements, so be ready. No doubt there will be a skydiving gunfight every other hour, but I’m sure the Saints can take it.
If Clive Owen can do it then so can the 3rd Street Saints, damn it!

Now, I wasn’t a huge fan of Saints Row but I freaking loved Saints Row 2. In fact, I would rate it even higher than GTA IV in my book. Yes, it really is that great. So this info has me more excited than a fat guy stuck in a Home Run Pie factory. The number one thing it must have is co-op, no question. But going off the success of the prior game, I’m sure we can expect it.
