Weekly Round-Up: Buckets of gore and holiday scares
EA’s online store accidentally listed a Mass Effect 3 description earlier today. While not really news (we all knew it was coming), the bits about planet Earth are exciting. Being able to visit with my personally-crafted Commander Shepard to see reactions from people as my rags-to-hero walks around a futuristic Earth would be awesome. Too bad it sounds like the earth may be scorched by the (SPOILER ALERT) dastardly Reapers before we get to behold it’s sci-fi beauty.
See how this Dead Space 2 Santa impostor will release holiday cheer…or your organs from your chest.
Wow, I’m really behind on this series. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception was just announced for the PlayStation 3. Just a bit ago I bought the first game for $10 during Black Friday sales. Looks like I better get searching for treasure and meeting hot ladies. At least, I think that’s what this series is about.
Apparently characters in the titles release for the Games for the Holidays Xbox Live Arcade event will make cameos in each others’ games. This kind of gimmicky stuff is actually pretty cool, though it isn’t going to get my wallet open for each title.
Buckets of blood and gore can’t save Splatterhouse from a weak story, horrible framerate issues and system freezing. It’s a shame, really. The old titles were always a rental for my brother and I growing up, and a new title—done right—would have been great for nostalgia’s sake. At least the original titles are included on the disc.
I’m not sure if Zen Studios has pinball in my Marvel universe, or if I’ve got Marvel characters in their pinball tables, but either way, it’s damn fun.
Those who don’t like to flail their arms up and down to bury the rock in an audacious dunk—and really, who doesn’t—can check out the HD version of NBA Jam. When choosing a console to play the dunkalicious game, our reviewer had this to say: “you might want to take the Wii version for a test drive before you drop those bills. And I don’t mean Clinton, either.”
No caption was ready for this NBA Jam fiend’s epic shirt. None.
Well, that’s it for this week, boys and girls. Be sure to check out GT every day for your gaming news and reviews. Now go and get your game on!
