Super Mario All-Stars: Worth Your Pretty Pennies?
We are finally getting close enough to taste that December 12 release date for Super Mario All-Stars Wii. Although seeing Mario bundled with some of the titles that started it all is nothing new, the packaging for this game is enough for Wii owners and collectors alike to get excited about. Along with the Super Mario Bros. Limited Edition Wii and the DSiXL Mario Edition, what will you spring for?
With all of the deals out there, one would be asking themselves, “Is this worth it?” There are few things about this edition that would even draw in all of those hipster parents out there and have them relive some of their childhood memories. We might be rethinking other ways to spend that scratch, dinero, or paper, but does the deal seem like a deal?
It doesn’t help that I like almost all things Mario. Well, except for Mario’s Time Machine, I could have done without burning that one into the old brain bank. This weekend I was fortunate enough to end up with a few NES titles still in the original packaging from a local garage sale. Although they were a few sport titles, not that they are not good titles, they were still new in the box and fitted with their instructions still in tact. What would one pay for items like these? How does U.S. $5 sound? It’s sad, but true.
The only thing different here is that these are the original items which have survived the years locked away in someone’s entertainment stand. Although they may go for a few bucks higher online, the presence of a deal is still respected.
Please do not misunderstand me, there are plenty of Super Mario titles out there still worth their weight in salt, but are you willing to re-buy the same titles? This is something that I have been thinking about and kicking around for a quite some time now. Owning a nice little set of Nintendo consoles constantly requires choosing the next addition. With other obscure titles and missing links in the collection, the end may never be near.
There is something that gives reassurance about this edition, but still keeps the everlasting bit of nostalgia present. This plumber might have to get a side job to support his habits.
If you do anything in regards to any of the New Super Mario Bros. titles, at the least, enjoy this video!
