The Weekly Round-Up: Nostalgia, Spartans, Comic Books and Poo

As the holiday season ramps up with an overbearing amount of releases, so too does the video game news. This past week we preview the return of two of gaming’s beloved mascots, review the latest Halo and even show you  a way to log your pooing habits.

The truth:

The upcoming Medal of Honor series reboot will no longer include the Taliban in the multiplayer mode after it spurred controversy among the gaming, and non-gaming community.

Our resident SEGA expert gives the most in-depth collection of screens and videos showing us what to expect for the rebirth of Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog 4. Dive in to find out when you’ll be taking the blue blur for a spin in a title that finally — finally — returns him to his roots with some promise.

Poo Log, now in high definition. Have an iPad? Want to track your bowel movements? Well then, check this out.

I’m not a fan of racing games unless they have talking turtles, banana peels and plump Italians in them, but Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit looks to be shaping up quite nicely.

Mario turned 25 this year, and Nintendo is releasing a collection of his first three games along with a soundtrack and book chronicling his history…in Japan and Europe.

The reviews:

Two of our editors give us their take on Bungie’s Halo swan song, Halo: Reach. Is it the best Halo ever, or is Master Chief sorely missed?

Michael Jordan makes a return to gaming in over a decade with the release of NBA 2K11. Is his addition a way of masking a flawed game, or does he add to the greatness of the series — tongue sticking out included? Surely it’s not better than this gem starring Mr. Jordan.

In other reviews we assault aliens in Alien Breed 2: Assault, take Twisted Pixel’s Comic Jumper for a laugh-inducing spin and wish we were being assaulted by aliens after suffering through Quantum Theory.

That’s it for this week; tune in every Friday for the weekly round-up!
