August NPD’s are in and 360 is Burning up the charts!

It looks like Microsoft has been burning up the NPD charts taking the #1 spot for the third month in a row!  Although it appears that the new 360S is still a little hard to find (250 Gig), it still appears that they are outselling their competitors. It also appears that they could have a BIG September as well, with the release of Halo Reach and the Limited Edition Halo Reach console! Here are the hardware numbers:

Xbox 360 – 356.7K
Nintendo DS – 342.7K
Wii – 244.3K
PlayStation 3 – 226.0K
PSP – 79.4K

Software was not a big month, but we all know that Madden NFL 2011 always fairs well in this month so it is no surprise to see it at the top two spots, however Wii Fit Plus is still charting in the top 10 after over a year of release! Here is a layout of the software numbers:

  1. Madden NFL 11 (Xbox 360) – 920,800
  2. Madden NFL 11 (PS3) – 893,600
  3. Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii) – 124,600
  4. Mafia II (360) – 121,600
  5. New Super Mario Bros. (DS) – 110,400
  6. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii)
  7. Mafia II (PS3)
  8. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (360)
