The latest rumor circulating around the internet, at least the one that doesn’t involve Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Obama, Scientology, BP, Blackwater, or the Westboro Baptist Church, is that Gearbox, the studio that brought us Brothers In Arms and the awesomeness that is Borderlands, has picked up the rights to Duke Nukem Forever!
Yes, the most famous vaporware game of all time, second only to maybe Starcraft: Ghost, has been in development since last thursday, repeatedly dropped and picked up again like a thermodynamically-challenged potato, and has finally found a new development house.
At least, that’s the rumor, as reported on Kotaku.
The bigger buzz about it is that Gearbox is being tight-lipped as ever, but plans on making a big announcement at a panel at Seattle’s PAX Prime this September. Since the panel schedule has yet to be released, one can only wonder when this will take place.
On a totally related note, I cannot wait until PAX! Too bad Deejayknight and LaWiiG wont be joining me, though. It’d suffice to say that I am going to be one sore freelance gaming journalist by weekend’s end!
