Gears of War 3 Announced (officially) with trailer

Even though it was the worst kept secret in the game industry, Cliff Bleszinski finally made it to the Jimmy Fallon show last night he he brought with him a metric ton of amazing in the form of the Gears of War 3 announcement trailer! Check it out below:

What can be seen from the trailer:

The game takes place some time after the end of Gears 2. We can see this change right away with Dom who has become all grizzly.
Everyone’s favorite sniper punchline, the Carmine brothers, are no longer to be found. Instead, they are replaced by this woman here:

It is a big turn for the normally testosterone heavy series to allow players to play as a woman, but she looks like she can hold her own.

Another addition to the game makes its debut in the hands of series protagonist, Marcus Fenix: the double-barrel shotgun. Which looks like it can dish out a whole lot of kick-ass!

Beyond that, it seems the plot will focus on the three-way battle between humans, Locust, and the Lambent which were introduced with the second game. Cliff (bigger than Santa) Bleszinski mentioned, as the show finally began to end, that we should see GoW 3 hit shelves April 8th, 2011.

Also, Cliff has announced via Twitter that there will be indeed four player coop:
