PAX: The return of Hydro Thunder
If you haunted the arcade scene back in the late nineties, chances are you came across an overly loud little boat racer known as, Hydro Thunder. Now, back in the day I used to play this game almost non-stop. I raced the hardest tracks with the hardest boats to control. The game was smart enough to know and recognize my skills by saying, “YOU’RE CRAZY!” Yep, I had no life but damn, it was a blast. I even picked up the port that came out on the Dreamcast when the system launched. Racing friends split-screen is one of my favorite gaming memories.
As you can imagine, I’m pretty stoked over the news that the sequel to Hydro Thunder will soon be on XBLA to wet my rocket-boat racing appetite once again. The game is currently being developed by small time developer, Vector Unit, as a full sequel including online racing for up to eight players, eight “worlds” to race around in, and four player split-screen racing.
A release date has yet to be announced but we will keep you informed of any new information that comes our way. Until then, check out the awesome announcement trailer below.
