Borderlands-Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot Review
A lot of people (including myself), thought the folks at Gearbox were crazy when they announced DLC before the actual game released. Well time has come and gone and Borderlands was one of the best games this year, The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned was a smash, and now we have new DLC on our doorsteps.
Named Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot, we are placed in a Mad-Max type environment with psycho ringmaster Moxxi running the show. The setup of the game is simple, fight off waves of enemies to survive and as you conquer each round, you are given massive weapon and health drops, that literally fall from the sky. The rounds are named for different enemies that you will face: the “Gun wave”, “Badass wave”, and “Horde wave” are some of the things you will run into when playing the new DLC.
One of the features that gamers were excited about with Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot, was the bank feature. This add-on allows you to store approximately 40 or so weapons. This comes in handy when you factor in the rounds of the tournaments (5 total rounds in the small and 20 total rounds in the big). However, while using these weapons to slaughter massive amount of enemies, you will not gain experience.
For those who like to go roaming around Pandora like the lone wolf, Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot will give you a rude awakening. The new DLC definitely requires a helping hand if you want to even think about making it past some of the later rounds. When you are finished off, you are put in the “Penalty Box’ where you can watch the action below and take a shot or two. If you land in the “Penalty Box” when playing solo, its a wrap for you and you are starting over at round one. It will be easier on you and save you the time, if you grab a buddy to watch your back when trying to tackle this beast.
Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot is more challenging than the previous DLC and worth your $10.00, even for those who have reached level 50. The content offers hours of gameplay and for those anti-social gamers out there, I suggest you make a friend on Xbox Live and take on Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot.
+More Focus on Co-Op side of things
-No Experience points gained
-Big Tournament is too lengthy
