Madden NFL 10 Demo Impressions
While the hardcore football fans usually rejoice this time of year with the release of NCAA Football and Madden, it almost a certainty that it will be accompanied by the groan of “same game, different year” by others. Well, this year my friend, you couldn’t be further from the truth. The Madden NFL 10 demo dropped on Xbox Live (Gold Members only) earlier on July 23rd, and I have played it numerous times since. One thing I took away from this was that EA will definitely win over some new fans of the series this year.
When starting up the demo, you can scroll over some of the new features added in the game. The game itself however, gives you a choice to play as the New York Giants or Dallas Cowboys. The field is covered in snow and the players react to it in a similar manner as seen in NCAA Football 10 (players slip and fall when running routes). Gamers also have more control over running the ball, you can drop your shoulder and fall forward for the first down, push the pile, or simply break through for the touchdown. There is also a fumble minigame in which players can button mash for control of the ball.
Game presentation is a big deal for me in sports games and in Madden NFL 10, they don’t disappoint. Staying true to the slogan: “Everything you see on Sunday”, the team brought back the chain gang and increased coach/player/fan interactions. The different camera views brought into the title, make you feel as if you are watching a game on ESPN vice turning on your Xbox 360. Pick this game up when it drops on August 14th for Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, Wii and PS2.
