hmmm Doesn't sound right. I got my Wii when it first came out. Maybe it was due to the first gen. release, but, I sent it in, they sent me a report on what was wrong. Then, Nintendo sent me a brand new Wii in the mail. No charges. I guess it depends!

WTF! area you kidding me? anything to make a quick buck, huh? talk about capitalizing off the consumer. they should be grateful we’re buying the wii in the first place. that’s just another way to lose customers and tick people off. so let me get this str8 they basically pull a stunt like the credit card companies that monitor your spending habits and modify your credit by taking it down. that’s ludacris! and might i point out that you send the wii in to get it repaired not snooped around in by software/hardware techs to find out what you’ve been doing with the product. hello, mcfly! that’s none of your freakin’ business nes!

Gotta be careful with it though, from what I’m hearing, if your wii ever breaks down from it’s normal use and you have to send it in for repairs, nintendo adds an extra service charge if they find evidence of the homebrew channel having been in your played log.

Ok so first of all to know that these individuals are 50+ and running business on the internet through Wii is totally jaw-dropping awesome. I think it’s great that non-gamers who aren’t event in the age target market take the initiative to get the full utility of the Wii as it was intended for. I agree about the “Nintendo promise”. I mean if they want more users, advertise all of it’s application uses so that way consumers have a choice as to what they want… such as a laptop or wii. as for gamers using online acess from the console, is the capability to game online with others like the xbox possible?

Well lets look at it this way. For example, one of the people that I know personally are a friends parents. Not only are they CONSUMERS, but they are consumers of video games. That says a lot for 50+ people in age still affording time and extra money to pay for things like entertainment in this arm and leg costing economy. Not only do they still purchase new games for BOTH their Wii systems, they run businesses themselves. And if an idea like “connecting” to the internet via tv, well, an order to do so wouldn’t the consumer have to have wireless internet? Or an ethernet cable ready adapter for the Wii? So yes non-gamers are Wii users too, but does not make internet using gamers ready for Wii online activity. Wiiware or any other step that might make the ride any less fun. If we go back to the initial promise by Nintendo of making the Wii a “hub” for entertainment, then we might not be having this discussion. 1 news channel? That doesn’t seem like its reaching out and grabbing my family members to dump their laptops for a Wiimote.

wow talk about leading your consumers astray. the fact that you know of 5 out of the many wii owners is an absolute disgrace to the gaming industry for nintendo. how could you leave your consumers in the land of cluelessness like that. i mean if you let that 80% know what they can do you could blow the competition out of the water. if not that then at least get a stake in vast growing technology money pool that gamers are still willing to pay an arm and leg for in our crippled economy. like the boiler room movies says “your job is to sell”. now if nintendo was smart or even economically aware putting a leaflet with the information in the console with the box or at least including a link for it with an option when you first turn on the menu options… oh my gosh by george i think we could increase sales!! but that’s too easy isn’t it clep, I mean to think that people wanna stay paid. non-gamers is a large market. heck my grandma plays video games when she’s board. but the fact that non-gamers can get on the internet thru tv with a gaming console definitely stands as an advertisement on the ledge to be pushed off into tvland. non-gamers are internet users too. TAP IN NINTENDO TAP IN!

yep! and one of the biggest contributors to the problem is that, and i don’t know if this statistic is exactly true, but 80% of Wii systems are connected the main TV in the living room but only 40% of those are connected to the internet. I can say that off hand i know 5 Wii owners that have accomplished all of the above. Also, its super easy to access it and most people don’t go that far. I know when i get a new device, i try and figure everything and anything about its possibilities. Ahhhhhh! LET THERE BE INTERNET FOR THE NON-GAMERS! shunn the non believer, shuuuuun!

So that’s wha, wha, wha, what it’s all about. So basically we got the shaft on this one. If you’re gonna make a promise then deliver, I hear ya man. It just ain’t right. And to put something out there just to appease folks when the quality of it is just plain unacceptable is well demeaning to the customer. Who do they think we are? It’s like total fail on the manufacturer’s part.
