Here are some recent screen caps taken from the trailer for Team ICO’s next big project, The Last Guardian–which I am stoked as hell for. I know these screens are nothing new to those who have seen the trailer. So, while we’re at it, we might as well discuss the shots and see what we can dissect.
Looking at the first and the ninth screen, we can see that stealth elements and platforming will be making an appearance in the game. Most likely, these will be moments either in the beginning of the game, or during times in which you will be separated from the baby gryphon and must dodge guards while defenseless.
The second and sixth screen show how the main character uses the gryphon to move from areas that he can’t reach on his own. The trailer shows more proof of this by displaying how the character hangs on to the gryphon as it scales walls and swims to unreachable areas below the water.
The eighth screen shows the boy finally answering the age old question: What do baby gryphons eat? Why, regular, run-of-the-mill barrels, of course!
How the hell any living creature could gain sustenance off of old wooden barrels is beyond me. Unless they’re full of rum. Mmm.
