Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Announced
Yes after much demand Capcom’s Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will be hitting the PSN and XBLA this summer and with some new additions as well.
This release of MVC2 is based on the Dreamcast version of the game which is the best version of the game, a version of the game I’m proud to say I still have for my Dreamcast.
Online play has been added which is natural for a game like this. It will be using the net code from Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix so you can expect the online to run solid for the most part. Player match quarter mode/lobby system will be used as well.
Its not getting HD Remix treatment but HD upscaling options will be available for the game. Smooth and Crisp are what they are calling the new HD upscale options and you can play using the classic pixelated look as well. The background which were in 3D will be using the original textures and assest which the Dreamcast couldn’t handle at the time and Capcom is promising that it will look amazing in HD.
Widescreen will be available but it will not affect the the gameplay in anyway. The main fighting area will still be in the original 4:3 aspect ratio while the view area will be in widescreen. If you don’t prefer widescreen the 4:3 with bars on the left and right will be available as well.
No unlocking characters this time around. The game will launch with all 56 characters available from the start you just have to jump in and play.
Music options are in place as well with custom soundtracks options and independent music volume controls available for both PSN and XBLA. I actually love the game’s original soundtrack but customization is never a bad thing.
Good and bad news is that a demo for MVC2 will be available this Thursday but it is a PSN exclusive so Xbox 360 owners are out of luck this time.
God bless Capcom for this announcement, Spider-Man here I come.
