Netflix Looking to Expand
Watching streaming movies on your Wii or PS3? If its up to the folks at Netflix, you soon will be. In addition to the surveys, Netflix has just posted a new job listing, seeking an engineering leader for a new project.
The listing’s “cheat sheet” asks for experience with current generation consoles, the hurdles associated with them, and the means to get around those hurdles. It also asks for “experience with digital media on embedded platforms; ideally on one or more gaming consoles”.
While the only console that has this feature as of late is the Xbox 360, it is no surprise that Netflix wants to seek other ventures. Since the New Xbox Experience, film downloads have jumped up 49 percent. Microsoft and Netflix have also reported that over 1 million Xbox Live Gold members have used the feature since November 2008. Would you pay extra for this if it came to your console?
