The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
Its rare that you get a great video game and movie combo, but the folks behind this series keep getting it done. From Atari, comes the latest installment in the series: The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. The new game contains 11 hours of game-play and will also contain the original game: The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, which adds on an additional nine hours. Atari has also included some multi-player modes for us. They are as follows:
- Arena-Players or teams of two, head-to-head. All weapons are available and up to eight people can face-off at once. Winner stays.
- Pitch Black- will have five people as mercenaries who have to hunt and kill the person playing Riddick. If they do kill him, they become Riddick next round. Each level will be in the dark, meaning torches for the mercenaries and an advantage for Riddick, who can see in the dark. Mercenaries get to pick either a shotgun, SMG or Assault Rifle at the start, but the stronger the weapon is, the weaker the torch
- Butcher Bay Riot- Splits 12 people into three teams: Guards, Prisoners and Mercanaries. They are identical in skills and need to grab and deliver the map’s powercell to an opposing base to win the match. Weapons are purchased before the round starts, and can earn more money by killing people or winning games.
The rest of the multi-player modes included are: Capture the Flag, Team Deathmatch, and Deathmatch. These modes are pretty self explanatory and will also support up to 12 gamers. Look for the game to come your way on Xbox 360, PC, and PS3 in March 2009. You can check out the trailer here.
