Outrun Online Arcade an XBLA Exclusive in US

Outrun, known for pioneering some aspects of racing games on it’s original release in 1986, is back for more action. Gamers in Europe will be able to play the title on both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

The most recent title in the Outrun series, Outrun Online Arcade, will support up to six gamers online. Perfect, right? Apparently not. Unfortunately for PS3 gamers in the US, the title will only be releasing on Xbox Live Arcade.

Here’s some info from CVG:

Outrun Online Arcade will not be released on the PlayStation Network in North America, Sega has confirmed to CVG.

Instead the colourful update will opt for Xbox Live Arcade exclusivity in the US, while the Europe will receive both PSN and XBLA versions as planned.

Microsoft and Sony have been playing ping-pong with paid exclusives, so a lot of gamers are thinking that this may have been one of the casualties.

Could it be moneyhats, anyone?

Can anyone think of any reasons that this might not be a paid exclusive? On the same token, are you a PS3 owner and wanted to get in on the Outrun action? If so, drop us a line in the comments!
