NXE Preview Gets Second Round of Invites

Microsoft knows exactly what they’re doing as far as the New Xbox Experience (NXE) goes. There’s a public release date of November 19th, a signup for the early Preview program in which only a handful of gamers got in, and now we have news that the NXE Preview program has accepted more gamers today.

Read from what Major Nelson had to say about it:

I mentioned this on my last show, but now it’s time to make it happen. This week we took a look at the list of the thousands of Xbox LIVE members that originally signed up for the preview program and decided it’s time to add more members. That means that on November 8th (tomorrow) we’re going to be adding more folks to the New Xbox Experience Preview Program. If you are chosen, you will receive an email later tonight (check that spam folder!) followed by the update tomorrow evening (PT). We’re only pulling names from those that originally signed up (there is no way to sign up if you missed it, sorry) and this selection process will be at random from those that previously filled out the Connect Program Survey from my original post. The New Xbox Experience will be available to all Xbox LIVE members on November 19th.

Now keep in mind that this is only for the users that originally signed up for the preview, and that the invites have already been sent out, but it’s still a reminder that nothing’s set in stone!

Personally, it seems like a nice way to trickle down the NXE to the hardcore gamers first – those most likely to want a hands-on of the NXE – and then allow the casual gamers to get their hands on it later. Of course, Xbox Live is likely to be bogged down by millions of gamers looking to get their hands on it on the 19th anyways, it still looks like a good idea to me!

So what are you waiting for? Check your email to see if you got in!

im right there with you. personally i think that its a way for microsoft to not destroy their servers on the 19th. Lets say about 10000? signed up for the NXE Probably more considering within 4 hours of the signup it was full. but lets say thats 10,000 out of 100,000 now that means that alot of weight will be shifted off of microsofts servers not to mention a little extra testing just before the 19th release date. GG Microsoft, GG indeed 🙂

Gah, I made it in the sign-ups, but didn't get tapped for wave 1 or wave 2. Nov 19th should arrive sooner. Don't know what I'm excited about, I don't have netflix lol.
