KotOR MMO Revealed As Star Wars: The Old Republic
We all know about the rumored Knights of the Old Republic MMO – it’s been rumored since a few months (maybe even weeks) after the release of KotOR 2 was released. Finally, the time has arrived, and the KotOR MMO we’ve all been expected has gotten a new name: Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Gamers can take the role of Jedi, Sith, and quite possibly everything in between seeing as any other official roles have yet to be announced. From the Press Release, Dr. Ray Musyka suggests that SW:TOR will be different from other MMOs:
In Star Wars: The Old Republic, we’re fusing BioWare’s heritage of critically-acclaimed storytelling with the amazing pedigree of Lucasfilm and LucasArts, and adding a brand-new fourth pillar to the equation – story. At the same time, we will still deliver all the fun features and activities that fans have come to expect in a AAA massively multiplayer online game. To top it all off, Star Wars: The Old Republic is set in a very exciting, dynamic period in the Star Wars universe.
Considering the fact that KotOR and it’s sequel were filled with story, that wouldn’t surprise me much. A good question now is whether or not SW:TOR will be supporting the current consoles – or even the next consoles. Time will tell.
