Xbox 360 Price Cut Official

The rumor has been making the rounds for months now, and Japan announced a price drop not too long ago, so it’s great to hear that the rumored price drop for the Xbox 360 is going into effect.
It’s even coming earlier than originally rumored! Here’s the announcement from Major Nelson:
We’ve got an Xbox 360 price cut coming to the US. Our friends in Japan announced their price cut earlier this week, but now it’s time to roll one out here. As of September 5th, the new prices will be as follows:
Xbox 360 Arcade $199
Xbox 360 $299
Xbox 360 Elite $399
That’s completely awesome. I’m a bit disappointed, because I just got my Elite and can’t find the reciept, but I’m sure I’ll get over it after playing a bit of Castle Crashers!
We’ll see how this affects the Xbox 360’s sales by Christmas. With holiday shopping not kicking into overdrive until Black Friday and the upcoming Fall Update right around the corner, this was a perfect time to drop.
