For those wondering why the track for Hot Shots: Out of Bounds is only 100KB, bringing to mind the recent DLC-on-disc fiascoes we all know too well, but Chris Hinojosa-Miranda explains that the situation isn’t what it seems:

The course will be downloaded automatically with today’s automatic
update. Once you’ve completed that, you can purchase the key from the
PSN store to unlock the course.

We used this model with the two new characters (Gloria and Alex) and
will continue to do so with the rest of the HSG:OOB DLC items.

Well that’s a pretty cool way of doing things. Everyone downloads the track regardless of whether or not they want to, but they get instantaneous access when they decide to purchase it… Pretty ingenious if you ask me – except that seems like a massive waste of bandwidth if you ask me. Not everyone is guaranteed to download the tracks.

Unless those tracks are very small, it makes more sense to save bandwidth by only allowing those who want the tracks to download them. Which still makes this seem a bit fishy…

Any way it goes, enjoy the PSN Update!
