Resident Evil 5 Will Have Online Co-Op, Mercenaries Mode Returns
Games Radar had the initial scoop before the page disappeared but it revealed that Resident Evil 5 will feature an online co-op mode so that you can play the entire game with a friend.
The second player would play seem to play as the new brown skinned lady that was shown in the scans recently and you should have the ability to drop in and out of co-op as you please. When playing alone the lady will be controlled by the A.I.
The Mercernaries mode from Resident Evil 4 will be in RE5 as well. New features to be implemented is a cover system that lets you lean against walls and shoot around corners and the ability to duck down and dodge bullets with the right analogue stick. One feature they really need but hasn’t been implemented as of yet is strafing.
I don’t really consider this a spoiler because I think we all saw this coming but here is it:
Resident Evil 5 is set in a small African country with no name. It’s located near a range of active volcanoes that runs through Eritrea, Ethiopia and Kenya, and is the source of the virus. Returning characters will include Sherry Birkin and Albert Wesker, and parts of the story will be revealed through playable flashbacks.
RE5 is set to release in 2009 and all of this good news is making it hard to wait, good thing there are plenty of good games coming out this year. I will say that they need to put strafing in this game beyond anything else.
