GDC 2008: Insomniac Announces Nocturnal Initiative

Insomniac really are great bunch of people and one of the top developers today. Today they announced the Nocturnal Initiative, which is a library of source code and other development resources that they use themselves that they are releasing free for other developers. They are hoping to start a trend of sharing with each other to make better games.

The Nocturnal Initiative website is already up with source codes ready to go. The website it self is in a Wiki format and is really easy to navigate. The code available is stuff they used in Ratchet and Clank Future and Resistance 2.

This is the reason why Insomniac is well respected in the community and to see game developers lending out a hand to others to make better games is a good thing to see.

I hope sharing like this picks up with other developers. We all love playing games and I know fans are always in favor of seeing games get better and better.
