White PlayStation 3 Coming to US

Any gamer that’s been following the PlayStation 3 at a serious length will remember that Japan received a white 40GB PlayStation 3 this past November with a white DualShock 3 controller that retails for JPY 39,980. (Okay, so maybe you didn’t know how much it costed.)

White PlayStation 3

Well, those of us US gamers who feel we never get in on the fun can cool their jets because filings at the FCC show that Sony may be planning to release the white PS3 here. Apparently, when they filed, they requested short-term confidentiality “to avoid premature release of sensitive information prior to marketing or release of the product to the public.”

There’s no specific date set for release, but considering the filing was in October my personal wager lies around the launch of Metal Gear Solid 4…

What do you think? Would you rather have a white PlayStation 3 compared to a black one?
