Minor Glitch Halts Ratchet & Clank Install
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction is one title in recent memory that wasn’t in QA testing for very long, and in a minor glitch, that came back to become a minor bite on the buttock of the title.
Shacknews reports that a small glitch in the game halts the install process for some users:
“We recently discovered a bug on the US version of Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction that some of you may encounter the first time you boot the game,” Insomniac community manager James Stevenson told Shacknews. “With specific amounts of free space on your drive, you may see a screen that tells you have insufficient space to create game data even though there is plenty of free space on your drive.”
Luckily, the glitch is truly minor, as the fix is to either add or remove about 500MB of data from your HDD if you’re experiencing this error. Once you add or remove about 500MB, the install should work fine.
I can’t say that half a gig would be all that difficult to add or subtract from the hard drive. Most demos on the PlayStation Network are either near or over 500MB, so either download or delete a demo and you should be fine. If you don’t have an internet connection, you might consider copying over an audio CD or copying 500MB worth of files onto a USB stick and copying it onto your PS3 that way.
A good question to ask though, is how much hard drive space must you have to get this glitch? I guess the world will find out soon, as internet forums the world over will likely have a field day with this…
Has anyone bought their copy of Ratchet & Clank and received this error?
