PS3 UT3 not quite delayed yet

Unreal Tournament 3 was due to come out this November but it has Midway’s Financial Update says that UT3 may be delayed to first quarter fiscal 2008 (January to March 2008).

“CHICAGO, Illinois, October 2, 2007 – Midway Games Inc. (NYSE: MWY) today announced revised estimates for the Company’s third quarter ended September 30, 2007, and fiscal year ending December 31, 2007. The changes are primarily to reflect Midway’s decision to release Stranglehold for the PLAYSTATION® 3 computer entertainment system in the fourth quarter rather than the third quarter, the expected movement of Unreal Tournament 3 for the PLAYSTATION 3 system into the first quarter of fiscal 2008, and lower expected sales of BlackSite: Area 51 primarily due to the adverse impact of the split shipment between the Xbox 360 and the PLAYSTATION 3 system, with the European version of BlackSite: Area 51 for the PLAYSTATION 3 system shifting into the first quarter of 2008.”

With this released Mark Rein from Epic shed a light of hope on this matter. On the UT3 forums He said:

“As a public company, Midway felt an obligation to its shareholders to let them know about the possibility of a delay. But our goal is still to get the PS3 version of UT3 in stores before the end of 2007. However, we will only ship it once it’s ready and is the best game we can deliver. The PC version is still on track for a November release.”

On the next page of the thread Mark Rein also said in a response to a forum member:

“Yes, there is a chance it will come out in December. In addition there is some good news as well. A little extra development time means that now the PS3 version will have all the same maps as the PC version which wasn’t previously expected to be the case.”

As you can see UT3 might make a 07 release after. I agree that I would rather wait for a finished game, with November expensive enough already December would be a great time to release UT3. With the extra time to put all the maps on the PS3 as the PC version has this is a delay that only benefits PS3 owners.

  8. This is getting a little more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The user interface is colorful, has a lot more flair, and some great features such as ‘Mixview’ which let you quickly see connected albums, songs, or other users related to what you might be listening to. Clicking on one of them will center on that item, and one more set of “friends” will come into view, permitting you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, tunes, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” can be excellent fun, letting you locate others with shared tastes and getting buddies with them. You then can listen to a playlist produced based on an amalgamation of what all your buddies are playing, which can also be enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will probably be relieved to find out you are able to stop the public from seeing your individual listening routines in case you so decide on.
