Bungie to go independent?

This is a rumor in every sense of the word but it has to be posted because this is Bungie, father of Halo, it could have some effects if it turns out to be true.

According to 8BitJoystick, word is that Bungie would like work on something other then Halo in for that to happend they are going to part ways with Microsoft. Jacob Metcalf of 8bitJoystivk says he has “full faith in this contact” who is from the “Redmond loop.”

“Apparently MS just wants Bungie to make Halo for the rest of their natural days, and Bungie doesn’t like how MS is constantly trying to ‘handle’ everything they do; the way they market their games, the way they interact with their fans (basically the fact that they do appreciate their fans), and how stingie [sic] they are with the profits (comparable to the rest of the industry),” the source said. “So as of today they are their own independent entity. They’ll probably make Halo 4 for Microsoft, however [t]hey are also free to create new intellectual properties for whatever system they want (even though they prefer the Xbox platform).”

GameDaily Biz contacted Microsoft and they responded like you figured they would, “There’s been no such announcement. We continue to celebrate the tremendous success of the global phenomenon that is Halo 3.

I myself would to see Bungie move on to something new whether Bungie being independent is true or not. This really means that Bungie would have a chance make games for other then the 360 and that is something I would to see as well. What kind of games would Bungie make for other consoles or either in the handheld department. We can only speculate for now.

I’d like to see it happen, but I was under the impression that Microsoft bought Bungie out.

They’d have to create a new company and hire all the old employees with it first… 😉
