Dualshock 3 has directional rumble
It seems that the Dualshock 3 might be more then initially realized. In 1up’s preview of Metal Gear Solid 4 this is what they had to say about the Dualshock 3:
“We did enjoy the various rumble effects employed by the new Dual Shock 3 controller, though: As explosions rattled around Snake, we could actually feel the direction from which they were coming based on what part of the controller virbated.”
Also in The Kojima Productions Report podcast about 9:30 minutes in they pretty much confirm that Dualshock 3 has directional rumble. They mention that the folks at 1up said they felt directional rumble. Ryan Peyton says the Dualshock 3 is better than the previous.
When ask the question if it had directional or positional as they said in the podcast Ryan Peyton said yeah, something i’m sure he let slip and then he went on to say that he couldn’t go into detail and that they are still working on the rumble since they received it a week before TGS 07.
Despite what Sony says it seems the Dualshock 3 is better and has directional rumble. We reported a while ago that the new controller would use Immersion’s TouchSense and with the podcast and 1up’s preview, it can’t be denied now.
Last, the podcast also said that a english demo of MGS4 is being work on. Don’t get your hopes because Peyton said he doesn’t know what form it would take but hopefully a playable version of some sort drops before the year is out.
