New Halo 3 Ad: "Museum"
I enjoy the Halo series, of that there is no doubt. Friend, colleagues, and family can attest to this. In light of the new advert for Halo 3, though, I feel it’s important to preface this statement with that.
That preface was because this has to be one of the best executed advertisements I’ve ever seen where the game itself was not shown. Those expecting to see some massive battle raging or a major multiplayer match assaulting your senses to get you enticed to play Halo 3 might want to look elsewhere, because there really isn’t a single frame of Halo 3 in this advertisement.
It was, on the other hand, very well executed. See for yourself:

Halo 3 Ad: “Museum”
Whatever marketing firm came up with this form of ad for Halo is thinking WAY outside of the traditional ‘video game commercial’ box. It wouldn’t surprise me to see casual gamers and even non-gamers intrigued as to what Halo is after watching this advertisement.
On the other hand, could this give us a clue as to the outcome? The officer in question is Major Pawel Czernek, and he served from 2551-2581. Maj. Czernek is definitely speaking about a battle involving Master Chief in the past tense, and considering the date, I’d venture a guess that this is FAR beyond the end of the Halo games.
Since this seems far in the future, does that mean humanity survives the war against the Covenant? The location is the “Museum of Humanity”, so is it a commemoration to the last surviving humans? Was there ever peace between the humans and any other races of the Covenant?
So many unanswered questions that can only be answered by playing Halo 3…
I’ve been hyped for this game since the ending of Halo 2; the Halo 3 beta only stoked the flames to burn brighter, but this possible new insight into where the story goes makes me as impatient as ever.
