Mass Effect to "Effect" wallets everywhere on November 20th

If there was a game that could rise – head and shoulders over the competition – above all other contenders for your income this holiday season, I’d put my money on Mass Effect.

Expect this game to sell in the millions.

Why is this, you ask? Personally it’s simple, but I’ve been a BioWare fan for quite some time now. For the uninitiated, though, let me explain:

Mass Effect Screen 02

BioWare has effectively made the best Star Wars game to date. If you have an Xbox, whether it be an original Xbox or an Xbox 360, enjoy action or role playing games, and haven’t played Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, you’ve done yourself a huge disservice.

You don’t even have to be a Star Wars fan to get into them, as they take place thousands of years before the original trilogy. I know I may be revoking my nerd and/or geek card by saying this, but I’ve never watched an entire Star Wars movie outside of the new trilogy. I have logged over 50 cumulative hours of KotOR, though.

Now, what do we have? BioWare making a game about traveling the galaxy and doing your best to save it – or destroy it, depending on how you play. With Mass Effect, BioWare seems to have taken the original formula of wide open exploration and storytelling, turned it on it’s head, and beat it up for it’s lunch money. They’ve taken the formula of KotOR and made it better.

Mass Effect Screen 01

More customization, more exploration, more dialogue, and rather than eight planets you have dozens. Likely hundreds.

It hits stores on November 20th. If you haven’t preordered it already, be sure to do so. Otherwise, you’ll be missing out on one of the best gaming experiences money can buy.

That, my friends, is the GAMINGtruth.

Release Date: Mass Effect Dated [Kotaku]
