Insomniac Opens PlayStation 3 R&D Site

PlayStation 3 owners may have heard of a couple games called Resistance: Fall of Man and Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. If they don’t, they should. Not only is Insomniac currently finishing up the next Ratchet adventure, they’re helping other developers out in the process.

Enter the Insomniac Research and Development Page.

Ratchet & Clank

Using their knowledge of the PlayStation 3 developing environment, Insomniac is assisting other devs in developing for the platform. Already, they’re showcasing different ways of completing tasks using the CELL and RSX chips.

Not only that, but they’re planning to give out tips on optimizing certain code, PDFs of presentations articles on their team members, and a look into their game development and production philosophy so gamers and coders alike can get a better handle on their work flow.

Talk about class. PlayStation 3 owners out there can rest a little easier now, as Insomniac is a premiere development house. I’m eager to see what this assistance does for PS3 / Cell development in the future!
