Best Buy No Longer Stocking Core Xbox 360?

Rumors fly on the internet faster than the speed of light, and the latest involves electronics retail giant Best Buy and the Core 360…
Apparently, the latest rumor attests that the Core Xbox 360 will no longer be stocked at Best Buy retailers. This could mean multiple things, but surely the conspiracy theorists will come up with something crazy!

They’re conspiracy theorists… It’s what they do.

Xbox 360s Out of stock

Joystiq’s insider notes the following:

The sheet, according to our source, shows the description of the Xbox 360 Core hardware and underneath it is the word “deleted, meaning it is being taken out of the system.” The out of stock date reads 7-29-07 and the larger image (found after the break) shows the pref code “y.” According to the source, “This means replenishment of this item is not expected.”

Microsoft has denied these allegations, of course, and claims that the Core 360 is still a part of the 360 family.

More on this as it develops.

  1. This is interesting. I hope this doesn’t lead to the hard drive required scenario. That would seriously hurt Core users.

  2. i saw this coming forever ago. i think it will be better in the end for the 360 players. i mean i know 0 people that have the core system. and i dont think that at this point in time if your going to buy a 360 now…people will talk you into buying the premium or the elite anyways. ive talked to several people and they see why getting the premium is just a better choice.

    -G.

  3. The core system was a bad idea from the get go. Without a harddrive you can’t save game or play on XBL. So you’re going to have to buy a memory card ($40?) anyway. It sucks for the people that did end up with the core system, but overall, I think it should be phased out as soon as possible.
