Xbox 360 HD-DVD Drive with added value!

Those in the market for HD-DVD movies just got an offer that they might not be able to refuse.

Microsoft announced at Comic-Con International 2007 that the Xbox 360™ HD-DVD drive that retails at $199 is getting a price drop to $179, but that’s not all. They’re sweetening the deal by adding five free HD-DVD movies for anyone that purchases the player between August 1st and September 30th.

Going even further, they announced that 300 and Heroes: Season 1 will see release on HD-DVD.

Whether those releases will be exclusive to HD-DVD is yet to be seen, but considering Warner Bros. releases movies on Blu-Ray as well, so it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch.

Want to know the movies you have to choose from? Good. You have to select one movie from each category, and if they’re using the same free movies as the previous giveaway, the selection is as follows:

Category A: Apollo 13, Seabiscuit, Chronicles of Riddick

Category B: Casablanca, Constantine, Dukes of Hazzard

Category C: Four Brothers, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

Category D: The Rundown, Blazing Saddles, U2: Rattle and Hum

Category E: U-571, The Perfect Storm, We Were Soldiers

I can’t deny it - that’s a pretty good selection of movies. What do you think?

  1. Heroes and 300 are titles HD-DVD needs although 300 is on Blu-Ray as well. Even though Sam’s Club were already slashes HD-DVD drive cheaper then this maybe this will spark so sales.

  2. aaahh! That is a good deal! I was waiting this one out for a while to see which format would “win.” It was looking Blu-Ray but it seems the scales are starting to tip in HD-DVD’s favor. Who knows though, maybe both will be able to peacefully co-exist. What to do, what to do……
