Metal Gear 20th Anniversary Party
Metal Gear 20th Anniversary Party kicked off very early in the morning but the details are flowing in and this is the place to get all the info you need.
Metal Gear Online is announced as a PS3 title featuring up to 16 players to duke it online.
“At last, Metal Gear Online is headed to PS3! Featuring characters, stages, and the same control scheme as found in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4, this reloaded MGO experience packs in additional environments, game modes, and team-based multiplayer mayhem to make this the ultimate online companion to MGS4!”
For Metal Gear Online there is a feature called SOKKU which allows you easily access info on your friends and see them through walls by picking up their body heat. You can do this to enemies too but you need to be close enough to do it. You can play either in first or third person mode too.
Closed beta testing begins August 20th and ends September 3rd. Registration (Japanese registration has started, keep checking the link for the English one, it should be one) has already begun.
A Metal Gear cell phone game was announced today as well. This will be set in Metal Gear Solid 3 world and be fully 3D. The title will be available through EZweb and will be included on a particular Sony Ericson model as a default application. They did show off a Metal Gear themed phone.
A new digital graphic novel is heading towards the PSP. Titled Metal Gear Solid 2: Bande Dessinee which will follow Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty storyline. It will have full voice acting as well.
Now for details on MGS4 gameplay but before I go into detail Eva from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will appear in MGS4, she’s old now.
Snake will be able to turn into a statue to hide from enemies. By pressing triangle Snake copy the background as shown in the trailers so he can blend in. Snake can take weapons from people and use judo.
Snake can frisk enemies for items and hit people in the nuts to stun people. Snake also has a stun knife to knock people out as well. Snake can hide under metal drums and do a rolling attack using the drum. He will be dizzy when he stands up straight making him throw up. Looking at a girl magazine makes him feel better.
You can play in first or third person. Snake can use that little robot MG Mk.II and controls it using the SixAxis.
This should be everything, if I find out more I’ll update soon as possible but I’m even more excited now then I was before. Metal Gear Online sounds awesome and if its anything like MGS3: Subsistence online which from the details improves on I’m already sold. The new gameplay details for MGS4 sounds great as well. Konami’s Metal Gear 20th Anniversary site they will have a 15 minute, all gameplay trailer at midnight, the internet is going to crash.
Their are screenshots for Metal Gear Online and MGS4 at the 20th anniversary site but they are pretty small but still worth checking out.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be released this winter worldwide. I can’t wait to get my hands on Old Snake for his final mission.
