Firmware 1.90 coming soon
Firmware 1.90 has already been released in Japan and Europe is getting it tomorrow. The US shouldn’t be too far behind and here is a list of what to expect.
• Ability to rearrange games on the XMB
• Option menu now includes “eject diskâ€
• Press triangle to eject games/CDs/movies in the XMB
• XMB backgrounds
• Change the folder classification
• Change CD output to 44.1/88.2/176.4kHz
• Force 24Hz output for Blu-ray over HDMI
• Change PS3 video settings in-game
• “Bit Mapping†in the “Music Settingâ€
• Save AVCHD type animations from a Memory Stick
• Change settings like upscaling while playing PS and PS2 games
• Add bookmarks
• Web browser security function in the browser’s tool section
• Avatar moves during audio visual chat
This is a nice update, it added some things people wanted like XMB backgrounds and being able to access and change settings while playing PS and PS2 games. Look for this update any day now.
Update: The firmware is out now in the US too. I downloaded this a little after midnight and pretty much everything on the list above is in the update.
