No X07 this year?

Remember ‘Bringing It Home’ last year for X06? Unfortunately, it seems it’s not going to happen this year for X07 as the event will not be happening…

Aaron Greenberg, Xbox 360 and Xbox Live Group Product Manager, announced on Squad XP’s podcast that there will be no X07 this year.

“There is not a real X07 this year but I think that we will figure out some way to talk about 2008 some time at a different event or a different type of programme.”

After having started in 2001 when Microsoft first ‘officially’ annoucned the Xbox to European journalists and retail channels, the event has grown exponentially. Last year, the new Halo title produced by Peter Jackson was announced, so this cancellation of what was surely going to be a great event for Microsoft is confusing, to say the least.

Personally, I was expecting to hear a lot more about games planned for next year or the new Dashboard updates, but it seems to no longer be.

A good question to ask now, especially after the much smaller E3 event, is whether or not companies will be canceling all their large-scale shows in favor of different outlets for announcements.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’d sure like to
