E3 2007: Unreal Tournament 3 Timed PS3 Exclusive

MAJOR news for Unreal fans: Unreal Tournament 3 is a timed exlusive for the PlayStation 3. And there’s more.

The following was said at Sony’s E3 Keynote:

“The engine for this next game became one of the standards in the industry, and that game is Unreal. Sony has signed a multi-part agreement with Midway and Epic, and we’re working closely with Epic to adjust the Unreal engine to the PS3 to use it to the best of its potential.”

The first stage of working closely with Epic is to optimize Unreal 3 for the PS3. Right afterwards, it was noted that you’ll only get UT3 on PS3 this year – which confirms a timed exlusive – and the previously unknown bit of info that you can share mods between the PC and PS3 versions of Unreal Tournament 3!

That floors me. Having been an Unreal Tournament fan as long as I can remember, that practically guarantees my high interest in the PS3. I can already picture the maps I’ll be making and shipping them to BOTH my PC and PS3…

There is much joy to be had…
