In-Game Ads: Now in your Achievements

Just when you thought your achievements were safe from in-game ads…
I remember when the Xbox 360 had just launched and achievements were confusing, but still pretty fun. Nowadays, they’re the next big thing and everyone’s trying to find ways to cash in on them (pun intended).
Case in point, NCAA Football 08. In the new title, you’ll find three striking achievements: Old Spice Red Zone Perfection, Old Spice Red Zone Shutout, and Pontiac 4th Quarter Comeback.
The thing that strikes as odd with these achievements, though, isn’t that they’re using in-game advertising. It’s that they’re not too far off from something you might see in an NCAA game on TV. This is one situation that isn’t in-game advertising used to take the game out of it’s original element. Advertising is almost as much a part of football as the football itself.
Remember how big Super Bowl ads are every year?
So while some see this as appalling, I see it as an extension of what we see in everyday football games anyways. How can you be mad at that?
Does anyone have a different feeling on the subject?
