Manhunt 2 rated Adults Only, Nintendo and Sony Won’t Allow It
Yesterday Manhunt 2 received a preliminary rating of Adults Only from Take-Two. Nintendo confirmed that if a game is rated AO then it will be released on the Wii or any of Nintendo’s systems. Sony confirmed this as well.
“Games made for Nintendo systems enjoy a broad variety of styles, genres and ratings. These are some of the reasons our Wii and Nintendo DS systems appeal to such a broad range of people. But as with books, television and movies, different content is meant for different audiences. That’s why theprovides ratings to help consumers understand the content of a game before they purchase it. As stated on Nintendo.com, Nintendo does not allow any -rated content on its systems.”
“It’s currently our policy not to allow the playback of AO-rated content on our systems,” said a Sony spokesperson.
I feel bad for Rockstar and Wii/PS2 owners who planned on picking up Manhunt 2. Rockstar is going to have to appeal to get it M-rated or modify it somehow to get it approved for the masses. Even though this game isn’t being released on the Xbox or Xbox 360 Microsoft has also said that don’t allow AO-rated games either. Since there are many things online rated as AO, like games or sites as the CelebMasta for example.
It sucks that grown folks that were interesting in buying the game cannot since every platform doesn’t allow AO-rated games. I don’t approve of this decision but the game wouldn’t sale as much since some outlets don’t sale AO-rated games anyway. Sucks to be Rockstar and sorry adults, your not allowed to play this game, I don’t care how old you are.
